MONKEY BUSINESS - AN OPPORTUNITY TO DO WELL BY DOING GOOD
Zoo to School Trip to South School It all starts with the Zoo-To-School Classroom Experience. Zoo staffers from the educational department come to the school to present a fascinating state-approved program to the students, which enrich their educational experience. The educational aspects of this program complement the students' curriculum.

The second half of the program brings the students face to face with the animals they had just learned about! The School-To-Zoo Field Trip takes place a few days after the Zoo visit to the school.

At the Zoo the students will have the opportunity to explore and enjoy through a hands-on approach, further emphasizing what they had learned during their classroom setting. Again, the educational benefits of this program match perfectly with the students' curriculum, which assures the students a bonafide educational experience.

Chamber Meeting about Monkey Business This program has the full support of the Stoughton Public School system and the Parent Teacher's Organizations. "This would be a great community endeavor," said Stoughton School Superintendent Anthony Sarno. "They have a nice series of programs at the zoo."

Dr. David Fisher, Elementary School Principal of the South School, the first school to experience this fabulous partnership program said, "I am most interested in the quality, depth and validity of Zoo New England's educational offerings. Zoo New England staff develop customized educational experiences that meet the diverse learning needs of each school audience. Zoo New England's staff develops programs that strictly adhere to the science learning standards that are contained in the curriculum frameworks developed by the Massachusetts Department of Education."

Dr. Fisher goes on to say, "We feel confident that contact with the Zoo New England staff and with the animals will deepen the students' understanding and appreciation of such important natural science ideas as habitats, eco-systems, and food chains. It is our hope that through these experiences children will be motivated to act responsibly towards the environment as adults. Zoo New England programs help students meet these lofty goals by educating students about wild life, wild animals and, later, natural history -- important messages about conservation and of man's relationship to the fragile natural environment."
