| The Stoughton Chamber of Commerce (SCC) has initiated a cost effective and effortless opportunity for chamber members to market their businesses while doing good for their community. Through partnering their business with our Stoughton Public Schools and Zoo New England @ Franklin Park, the Monkey Business Program helps to encourage customer appreciation and loyalty. Consumer studies have shown when businesses support their community they benefit from customer patronage. | |

The Monkey Business Program is both educational and fun, providing children the opportunity to relate their classroom curriculum to the outside world. Due to severe budgetary cutbacks, this invaluable experience will only be available with the support from the business community!

The idea for Monkey Business grew out of a chance meeting between Terry Schneider, the SCC President and John Linehan, CEO and President of Zoo New England as well as a resident of Stoughton. Terry & John are Stoughton Town Meeting Reps who began chatting over milk and cookies about a possible chamber field trip to the 72-acre Franklin Park Zoo, which houses more than 220 species of animals. A few months later, they ran into each other at another local event and started making plans.

Representatives from the SCC, the Neponset Valley Chamber of Commerce (NVCC) and Zoo New England began meeting together in the fall of 2002 to discuss some possiblities for this Chamber Road Trip. In January 2003, while finalizing plans for the trip, the "Monkey Board" realized there was something more that could come of this unique partnership and the Zoo-To-School-To-Zoo Program was born.
